Around a dozen short films are selected to be screened at the festival with the best films being chosen by a judging panel and festivalgoers on the night. This year’s entrants will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Natalie Evans whose film – Road Trip – won Best Film last year, and Joshua Chawner who wowed the audience with his epic Lego animation, Barracuda Heist.
Support of up to £25,000 is available for production costs on fiction shorts across live action, animation and immersive/virtual reality. BFI NETWORK England short film funding supports filmmaking teams based in the North who are working on fiction shorts in live action, animation and immersive/virtual reality.
