Painting Padiham

Painting Padiham is a vibrant, one-day plein-air painting competition set in the picturesque town of Padiham and the stunning grounds of the National Trust’s Gawthorpe Hall. Returning on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, this much-loved event brings together artists of all levels to capture the town’s rich heritage, beautiful landscapes, and thriving community spirit — all in one creative day!

Open to artists aged 18 and over, the competition offers the chance to compete for a range of cash prizes, including a top prize of £1,000. Whether you're a professional or a passionate hobbyist, it's a fantastic opportunity to showcase your work and be part of a unique artistic celebration.

But Painting Padiham isn’t just for painters! The event is packed with fun for all ages, including:

• Artists Trail – see the artists in action across the town
• Free face painting & caricatures
• Drop-in painting workshops at Padiham Library
• Free vintage bus rides between Padiham and Gawthorpe Hal
