Iain H Williams Exhibition - "It's Not You, It's Me"
Wednesday 28th February 2024 to Saturday 16th March 2024
Prism Art Gallery, Blackburn, BB2

The exhibition "It's Not You, It's Me" is an opportunity to view new works produced by Iain which signal a new artistic direction for the artist.

Iain H Williams is an artist born, working and living in Lancashire. Throughout his career he has cultivated a vibrant style which utilises his own bold visual language and motifs, referencing both urban links and contemporary imagery. In his often large scale works, Iain explores the abstract image and mark-making with an energetic use of colour, that bounces between subtle restraint and raw intensity.
In his most recent body of work he explores a sectional use of negative space within the paintings to explore a more minimal sense of composition and dynamics, highlighting a new way forward, with boundaries being pushed and exerted within the work. The paintings featured in ‘It’s Not You, It’s Me’ at Prism Contemporary signal a new artistic direction for Iain. In a departure from conventional methods, he constructs each piece before deconstructing and reassembling it, resulting in stitched canvases that radiate a sense of tension and disconnection. Despite new methods, his distinctive style remains unmistakable.
