Mirador Arts presents an exhibition about Karel Klíč whose pioneering work paved the way for the revolution in photomechanical printing.
In Lancaster’s Storey Gallery from November 14 to November 25, all will be revealed about the man, his background, his talents and, of course, his outstanding achievements with the breakthrough in rotogravure.
The exhibition will beautifully present the comprehensive account of how the ingenious Czech (Bohemia as it was at the time) artist and inventor, Klíč, linked Vienna and Lancaster and from a Lancaster printing works first made fine art copies available to the masses through a photo-mechanical process.
Artefacts, paintings, documents and illustrations in the exhibition will tell the intriguing story of how his Lancashire-invented intaglio rotogravure – a photo-mechanical process for accurate copying and multi-copying -revolutionised printing.
