Talks Event: The Revolution in Printing That Changed Culture Forever
Wednesday 25th November 2026 06:00 PM to 08:00 PM
The Storey Gallery, Meeting House Lane, Lancaster, LA1
A panel discussion sharing fascinating insights into how a late 19th century invention connected Art, Creative Industries and Business and shaped the future of culture.
A panel discussion featuring Luigi Carnovale (Design LSC), Rebecca Pye (Head of Design at Standfast & Barracks) and prize-winning artist Lela Harris, will shape the discussion about how an outstanding Lancashire innovation - hidden from plain sight - made a global impact.
The event has been inspired by Karel Klic's invention of rotogravure, which was a printing breakthrough in Lancaster in the 1890s that not only changed culture forever but was a key breakthrough for the creative industries in the 20th century.
The 'conversation' will reflect on Lela & Rebecca linking up for an outstanding, large-scale artwork in fabric, 'Reimagining The Masters', at Mirador's exhibition in the Storey Gallery - a distinctive take on Vermeer’s The Allegory of Painting, reproduced by Klič’s printing company in Lancaster.
