#BTB23 Conversations in Creativity: HomeGrown/HomeSpun - Woman Grows Jeans
Saturday 28th October 2023 01:00 PM to 02:30 PM
Blackburn Museum & Art Gallery, BB1 7AJ

Hear Justine Aldersey-Williams talk about the journey of Homegrown/Homespun in this interview with Perelandra Beedles.

This event is part of the Conversations in Creativity series in collaboration with British Textile Biennial.
In 2020, natural dyer and founder of Northern England Fibreshed, Justine Aldersey-Williams entered into a collaboration with Patrick Grant and The Super Slow Way that aimed to bring the first Homegrown Homespun jeans to market via social enterprise Community Clothing.
In this interview with Perelandra Beedles, find out how the team progressed during this three year experiment into regenerative fashion and discover how a community project evolved into a personal initiation into traditional earth stewardship, immersing Justine in the many textile crafts involved in making the U.K.’s first pair of indigo linen jeans in at least 120 years. Nine weeks hand spinning three hours a day allowed plenty of time to reflect on the highs, lows and huge number of lessons learnt that will be of interest to anyone excited by the prospect of wearing Climate Beneficial™ jeans and Justine will reveal this historic garment live on stage.
Free to attend, but spaces is limited so booking via Eventbrite is essential.
