Back Back

Celebrate the Festival of Archaeology 2026 and book your young archaeologists (age 7+) onto one of our pottery workshops.

Junior Archaeologists: Neolithic Pottery Workshop

Discover the prehistoric past through pottery. Get messy with some clay and learn about the invention of pottery from thumb pots to coil pots. Look at designs and replicate using sticks, stamps and fingernails.

Each young archaeologist will take their coil pot home and receive their very own certificate to take away, too!

The pottery session lasts around 45 minutes. Pottery sessions are £3 per child. Please book online or phone, email, or call in at the museum shop for more information.

An alternative self-guided activity will be provided for younger children (under 7) accompanying children taking part.

Doors open for registration at 12.45pm and the session will start at 1.00pm prompt.

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Clitheroe Castle Museum is managed by Lancashire County Council's Museum Service on behalf of Ribble Valley Borough Council.
