Solo artist Azraa Motala will be exhibiting a body of work spanning painting, photography, poetry and text, at Art Gene in Cumbria from 20 November 2026 to 30 January 2027.
Art Gene are delighted to announce Motherland, an upcoming solo exhibition by artist Azraa Motala at Art Gene from 20 November 2026.
Spanning painting, photography, poetry and text, Motala’s multidisciplinary practice explores the hidden histories of landscapes and places, from the rural North and industrial towns to the communities that shape them.
Drawing on personal experiences, conversations and cultural memories, Motherland brings together stories of migration, identity, labour and belonging, questioning whose histories are seen, heard and remembered.
