Clitheroe Castle Museum and Community Rail Lancashire are marking 200 years of the modern railway with a free, action‑packed day bursting with hands‑on fun and creative activities.

All Aboard! Railway Family Fun Day at Clitheroe Castle Museum

What’s On: 

Working 'Rock and Roll' model railway with Pendle Forest Model Railway Club.

Meet Lancashire children's author Susan Brownrigg who will read extracts from her award winning book, "Wrong Tracks."

Train Spotting Game and prizes

Colouring Competition illustrated by local artist Jenny Czerwonka. The winner will receive a Family Weekend Explorer train ticket courtesy of Northern.

Hop on the Imagination Train with community artist Gosha Gibek and decorate your own train wagon using paints, collage materials, stickers and more, based on the poem "Locomotive" by Julian Tuwim.

Come and try your hand at the fun process of Cyanotype & Linocut Printing with artist and railway enthusiast Dianne Muldowney.

Visit our Selfie Station to try on hats and railway uniforms.

Draw a Selfie for the Station Platform.

Meet model engineers from the Ribble Valley Live Steamers club.

Build a LEGO train with Clitheroe Library’s very own LEGO Station Master!

"Tracks of Life: Trains, People and Places." A special exhibition celebrating the life and work of Ken Roberts (1928–2024), a talented and dedicated local railway enthusiast and photographer.

Entry to our activity space is free, with all activities offered on a drop‑in basis and suitable for all ages—no booking required.
