Artists Commissions – Hit The North

Hit The North is a programme of cross-arts work developed in and around Preston’s train station.

Hit The North is a They Eat Culture project investigating notions of Northerness, regional identity and place, at a post-election moment, and is funded by Arts Council England.

Inhabiting the station, surrounding sites & populations as spaces for intervention, display, performance, creative experiment, investigation, and cultural conversations, we will work with the communities and people who inhabit the spaces alongside emergent and established artists to create works.

We are looking to bring together from open call a group of commissions & interventions to work alongside our residencies and engaged communities inhabiting the station over the period of this project.

Your practice could be in any medium/genre, for example, visual arts, film & photography/digital arts, data-work, sonic arts, illustration, graphics, design, architecture & built environment, live art, performance, writing. We are also interested in people who are interested in contributing a critical response to the programme.

We are commissioning from open call:
a)    2 up to £5000
b)    6 up to £500

Both strands have scope for extension/development.

Please register your interest and we will send back a fuller brief. Email: ewa@theyeatculture.org
