Community Arts North West: Community SpirIT

Are you a community leader or cultural producer who organises arts programmes happening in the community? Would you like to develop your digital media skills so that you can promote your arts activities better?

Community SpirIT is a free, introductory digital-media training course run by Community Arts North West (CAN) aimed at community leaders and cultural producers in Greater Manchester who are organising community-based arts projects & events, but who have little or no online profile and presence.

You can choose to learn about photography & video for web or how to build your own website using WordPress over six Tuesday evening workshops and two Saturdays.

You can only apply to take part in one of the 6-week courses.

The Photography and Video for Web course will take place from 7pm-9.30pm every Tuesday from 15th Sep to 20th Oct 2015. The Saturday dates will be 3rd & 17th Oct.

The Building your own Website course will take place from 7pm-9.30pm 27th Oct to 1st Dec 2015. The Saturday dates will be 7th Nov & 5th Dec.

All training will be held at Community Arts North West, Green Fish Resource Centre, 46-50 Oldham Street, Manchester M4 1LE.

How do I apply?

You can apply to take part by filling in our online application form.

Selection will be based on the strength of your community-based arts activities, and how well you can demonstrate the training will help you develop this work.

The deadline is Monday 31st August at 5pm

Am I eligible to apply?

This training is funded by the Big Lottery Fund to help excluded communities in Greater Manchester access digital-media skills and resources. Priority will be given to participants from disadvantaged backgrounds, for example, culturally diverse communities, refugees and asylum-seekers, women, people aged 50+, people with a disability, people experiencing poverty, and other disadvantaged groups.
