National Festival of Making

The National Festival of Making will take place in Blackburn, Lancashire in May 2017. An opportunity to see, make and do for residents and visitors as the festival takes over the streets with an eclectic mix of making experiences for everyone.

The ‘headline’ element of the festival programme, The Art in Manufacturing, will illuminate manufacturing heritage in Lancashire, forming a Maker Trail and associated making experiences across Blackburn Town Centre.

Eight commissions are available to artists/makers who will each take up a residency with manufacturers in Blackburn and Lancashire, including food, textile, paper and plastic manufacturers.

Applicants must not make direct contact with manufacturer's until the shortlisting process has taken place.

The Art in Manufacturing and The Festival of Making is supported with funding from Arts Council England, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, Heritage Lottery Fund and Super Slow Way.
