Queen's Awards

Raising the profile of the Queen's Awards in Lancashire

Creative Lancashire are advocating for the county as a hotbed of creativity, enterprise and innovation by raising the profile of the Queen's Awards in Lancashire. The Queen's Awards for Enterprise go to companies who are leading the way in 3 categories: innovation, sustainable development and international  trade.

The Queen's Awards are the UK's most prestigious Awards for business success, judged on solid evidence of business growth. The winning firms  range from enterprising small businesses with as few as two employees to household names such as the FA Premier League, food company Walkers Shortbread Ltd, and bicycle manufacturer Brompton Bicycle Ltd. Two of Creative Lancashire's board members Tony Attard OBE and Charles Hadcock have both won Queen's Awards and found the benefits to their business and profile far reaching.

Creative Lancashire are running a series of events from 2010 to 2012 to increase the number of Queen's Awards applications from Lancashire companies and to ensure the county's best businesses receive the recognition they deserve.  The next event will run in May-June 2011 in time for applicants to have time to work on their applications and receive support.

Our last event in 2010 saw past winners sharing their experiences of both the application process and the advantages that the business saw as a result of winning.  All the delegates at the event found it very helpful and informative.  Creative Lancashire even managed to help find some past applicants to support new applicants through the process.

Carmen Bowley of Blakedale had this to say about the 2010 event:

"Just a quick word to thank you for last night's event. Listening to the past winners speak was utterly inspiring and I was fascinated to learn all about the Queens Award's. I am certainly going to look further into the awards with a view to entering the competition.

The evening was pitched perfectly and the food was delicious too, which is always a bonus!  Please pass on my thanks to all those involved  in putting on the evening."
