Head of Cultural Services - Burnley Leisure

Grade 13 £39,782 - £42,683 (subject to Review)

Contract: Permanent | Flexible Hours | 36.25 hours per week
Reference: MEC/19/98034

We are seeking an exceptional individual to champion, develop and lead our Cultural Services operations: identifying and developing opportunities for growth; fundraising and diversifying income; developing partnerships and promotions that grow audiences and participation and deliver a high quality aspirational and sustainable cultural offering in Burnley. Reporting to the Leisure Trust Chief Executive, this senior post plays a key role on the management team and also reports to and works with the board of trustees when appropriate, whilst leading an operational team.

Working in partnership to inspire people and communities to be active, creative and healthier

You will have a track-record of delivering high-profile programmes and campaigns and a good network of contacts from either an arts development, theatre or museums background, with a reasonable level of understanding of delivery from the other two discipline areas. Extensive experience of fund raising, large scale project development, monitoring data and budgets, audience engagement and motivational staff management are a prerequisite.

It is an interesting time to start working for Burnley Leisure, with theatre visitors at an all-time high, Christmas events selling out the January before, the council about to develop a cultural narrative for the borough and discussions around expansion of cultural services.

The successful candidate will show energy and aspiration for cultural services in Burnley whilst being able to practically plan and develop realistic business plans that supports the trust to achieve its mission statement: ‘Working in partnership to inspire people and communities to be active, creative and healthier through the provision of a wide range of high quality leisure and cultural services that are customer focused, affordable and accessible to all.’

Occasional evening, weekend and Bank Holiday working may be required depending on business requirements.

For an informal discussion on the content of the job description or person specification then please contact Gerard Vinton, Chief Executive on 01282 477166 or Helen Jones (current post holder) on 01282 477132.
