Corporation Pop delivers website for the ‘Do Something Brilliant’ national campaign

Corporation Pop have been appointed by Community Channel to design and build a website to support ‘Do Something Brilliant’ - a national campaign which launches on 25th February 2014.

The campaign, run by Community Channel and funded by the Big Lottery Fund, champions communities in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and aims to inspire people to do something brilliant in their own lives that will make a big difference to themselves and the people around them.

Do Something Brilliant is driven by the website,, where a whole host of 'little brilliant things' are housed to celebrate what’s on offer locally and provide suggestions for people to get involved. Visitors to the site can upload their own ‘little brilliant thing’ and comment on those submitted by others. They can register their intention to do something similar or note that they’ve done the same thing.

An ‘inspiration’ section gives tips and ideas on how to create your own ‘little brilliant thing’ whilst videos from Community Channel feature the best charity and community from around the UK. Content is categorised into one of the four campaign strands (‘active’, ‘creative’, ‘green’ or ‘together’) so that visitors can search for activities by both type and region. Corporation Pop have also built a social media scraper which searches Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for content tagged with the hashtag #somethingbrilliant and then pulls it in to the site where, after moderation, it appears in the appropriate ‘brilliant thing’ category.

Dom Raban, Managing Director at Corporation Pop said, “We’re honoured to have been asked to work on this important national campaign and we’ll be keeping a close eye on the site as it grows over the next three years.”

“Partnerships are at the heart of our Do Something Brilliant campaign and the generosity of Corporation Pop in both terms of time and resources has been imperative to ensuring this campaign a success. The interactive nature of the website is what’s core to creating conversations between charities, communities and individuals and it’s this factor which is integral to help to inspire others to do #somethingbrilliant”, adds Nicola Morris, Head of Online at Community Channel.

Community Channel is owned and run by Media Trust, a national charity that believes in the power of media to change lives. They work to support charities and communities across the UK to improve their marketing and communications skills through training, film production, distribution and provision of free resources.  This is the second project Corporation Pop have delivered for the charity, having re-designed Media Trust’s own website last year.

The ‘Do Something Brilliant’ website launches on 25th February 2014 and can be found at
